Position Summary:


The Senior Corporate/Private debt Underwriter plays a key role in the implementation and the deployment of AXA Private debt portfolio. The Senior Corporate/Private debt Underwriter is part of the alternative credit team.

He/she reports to AXA Group Chief Credit Officer. The position is Paris based and is part of a 25 plus credit team within the AXA Group holding company’s Investment & ALM department headed by the Group CIO. The AXA Group corporate/private debt represents a significant share of AXA Group Alternative investment with a Eur 12,5bn exposure as at 31/12/2016.


Main Responsabilities:


The primary duties of the Senior Corporate/private debt Underwriter are:
  • Sourcing market opportunities review, strategic positioning definition & third-party asset managers/partnerships building
  • Coordination relationships with corporates, third party managers and banks 
  • Review investment/co investment/partnership proposals from third party asset managers
  • Close interaction with internal asset managers, notably at sourcing stage as well as to the follow-up & monitoring of AXA private debt book
  • Participating to due diligence process
  • Supervising the relationships with lending platforms 
  • Review co investment opportunities on a deal by deal basis (Credit application review, definition of minimum standard application material, analysis and attendance to Credit committees)
  • Collaboration with the legal and structuring credit team to support the implementation, including liaising with Group Risk Management, Group accounting department and Group Tax
  • New investment ideas opportunities and market watch animation
  • Active interaction with AXA entities, notably in the set-up of new funds or investment mandates as well as monitoring of AXA private debt exposure
  • Liaise with rating agencies and regulators

  • Definition of Corporate/Private debt investment strategy
  • Identification of market trends
  • Identification of market opportunities
  • Surveillance of existing portfolio
  • Periodic sector reviews
  • Regular review of third party as well as internal asset managers
  • Knowledge transfer and successful integration within Alternative credit team
  • Collaboration on activities including work with teammates

Experience and Qualifications:


The targeted background for the Senior Corporate/private debt Underwriter includes:
  • Master’s degree in in Engineering (with applied finance degree), Economics; Public Policies; Finance or Business
  • At least 15 years of experience in corporate private lending or private equity with experience on investment and/or structuring
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; French is a plus
